From an email sent in October 2019
Hello, First apologies for the generic email but I wanted to make you aware of a new group I am starting at Makespace. I am writing you because you and I have worked together in the past and I would welcome your continued contributions.
Each Friday I will host “office hours” in Makespace with the goal of growing businesses. Many of you reading this will have worked with me in this format. The immediate objective is to gather people running, or thinking about starting, businesses in order to share best practice for exploring market potentials, planning, managing, developing, producing and selling product. The idea is to learn from each other in informal discussions, perhaps to float a few ideas, a strategy, or test some assumptions.
The format will be open, flexible and very practical. The best way to learn is from experience. Hearing how others worked through problems will allow you to learn from their experience, and they from you. Might save you from making the same missteps. It is not meant only as a one-to-one discussion. It works best when several people, each at a different point in the grow of their company, contribute with questions, information, and stories.
I will be in the Makespace classroom and also on Skype. Please drop in for a face-to face chat or ‘skype-in’; whatever works best for you. I will provide skype details to people who sign up to attend.
From past experience some weeks will be several quick Q&As, other times we might explore a particular issue facing one of the group or get an update on an issue addressed in a past week.
Best regards,
Ward
